How To Prevent Lazy Eyes

August 30, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

James C.Cameer asked:

Children enrolled in fitness-oriented gym classes showed greater loss of body fat, increase in cardiovascular fitness, and improvement in fasting insulin levels.

Lazy eye

This is an eye condition that is seen in children where there is lack of development in one eye. This condition needs to be detected early so as to prevent crossed eyes. Eye exercise therapy is used to improve the lazy eye condition. A patch is worn over the good eye for a few weeks or months and the lazy eye is exercised so as to strengthen it.

Exercise tip for an exercise benefit:

Always keep an upbeat point of view about exercise. Realize that it’s a part of life and that it’s very important not only for your health, but for the health of your entire family. Schedule exercise appointments just like you would any other meeting or obligation.

Parkinson’s disease and Exercise

Add reducing the risk of Parkinson’s disease to the long list of exercise benefits, a study recently reported in the journal Neurology concludes. The study followed over 100,000 people and found that those who reported regular, vigorous activity as teenagers and young adults reduced their risk of developing Parkinson’s disease as they aged by about 60%. Ted Dawson, a neurologist with a research interest in Parkinson’s at Johns Hopkins, says exercise also benefits those who already have the condition.

Despite the strong case for staying active, many people find it difficult to adapt their daily lives to incorporate physical activity. With cars on most driveways and the decline in the number of physically active jobs, 70% of the adult population is sufficiently inactive to be classed as “sedentary”. Being sedentary increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke by the same amount as smoking.

If you have previously been inactive and 30 minutes of activity per day sounds like a tall order, the good news is that separate sessions of ten minutes can count towards the total.

It’s possible to achieve your 30 minute target by making fairly simple changes to your everyday routine, without joining the gym or running a marathon.

Examples of everyday activities that count:

1. walking up stairs instead of using lifts,

2. walking up moving escalators,

3. for short journeys, walking instead of driving,

4. doing the housework at “double-time”,

5. DIY and gardening, such as painting or raking leaves.

Perhaps try actitivies to music, such as dance or aerobics, and make sure you vary your activity a little so you don’t get bored. Try exercising in beautiful scenery, such as on a beach or in a park. Maybe you could buy yourself some new exercise clothes that you like wearing and feel good in.

How To Prevent Psychosis Successfully

August 25, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

Ronen David asked:

Psychosis is a condition where a person may have a “loss of contact with reality” and troubles distinguishing which reality from illusions. A person suffering from psychosis may experience hallucinations and delusions (for example hearing voices or seeing and interacting with imaginary people), and may exhibit changes in personality and disorganized thinking (for example talking quickly or switching topics in the middle of sentences or inappropriately). While psychopath and psychosis are both abbreviated to the slang word “psycho”, it should be noted that they are two different disorders.

People who suffer from psychosis often remain untreated for 1-2 years after the onset of psychosis. This is because they either do not want to find help or do not realize that they need it. Remaining psychotic for a long time are potentially disastrous. Prevention is perhaps the best solution.

Identifying how or when psychosis occurs is perhaps the most important step in preventing psychosis from developing. You should first learn that there are many reasons why a person can suffer from psychosis. A person’s psychological conditions, such include bipolar disorder, severe clinical depression, severe psychosocial stress, sleep deprivation, and some focal epileptic disorders, is known to cause psychosis.

Stressful life events, such as working in a hostile environment, moving houses, being in a relationship that is falling apart or death of loved ones can build up and trigger psychotic states. Short-lived psychosis triggered by stress is known as brief reactive psychosis, and patients may spontaneously recover within two weeks. However, there are cases where they remain in a state of full-blown psychosis for many years or show psychotic symptoms, such as low intensity hallucinations, at most times.

Talking to someone about your problems can help reduce the amount of pressure that they build up on you and help you cope better. You can also try to do things that can help you relax, for example reading or doing sports. As sleep derivation is also linked to psychosis, you should try to get as much sleep as possible. Above all, you should always realize that as human beings you do have your limits. Do not try to cope with everything by yourself. If you have problems that you cannot handle, find someone to talk to and to help you.

A person’s general medical conditions can also contribute to psychosis. There are a few pathologies that can be associated with this psychological disorder, such as neurological disorders like brain tumor and Parkinson’s disease, electrolyte disorders such as hypocalcemia, and other diseases such as AIDS, malaria, leprosy, and lupus. What you can do is to do routine medical check ups and maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent both psychosis and the pathologies that cause it.

Psychosis states may also occur after using a variety of substances both legal and illegal and both prescription and non prescription. Drugs whose use, abuse, or withdrawal implicates psychosis include alcohol, cold medications, barbiturates, stimulants, cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy, amphetamines, and LSD. So avoid drinking too much or using drugs. If you have certain illnesses that require you to take a regular dose of prescribed drugs regularly, make sure that you follow strict orders from your medical advisor.

Psychosis can be a difficult problem to have, however if you know how to deal with it or better yet, prevent it from happening, you may just save your life. If you have problems, then you should seek help immediately. Talk to someone about them so that you can greatly reduce the stress they cause. By reducing your stresses and avoiding drug use, you are on your way to prevent an illness from occurring.

Jbug64 asked:

my father who needs 24/7 care gets some outside help but his 2 daughters (one who is me) are the only ones who help or spend any time with him. And when this was mentioned to my father one day about his son’s helping out, he just looked at me like I had lost my mind. Is this an old school thing or what? Does he think that only women should do this?

Do You Know How to Prevent Wrinkles?

August 04, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

Gordon Hall asked:

I can tell you how to prevent wrinkles in one short sentence. If you want to fight wrinkles, you have to fight free radical damage. Now, how you do that, takes a little more explaining.

Throughout our lives there are molecular changes going on that will eventually affect our appearance. Those changes may be the beginning of a wrinkle or the beginning of a cancerous growth.

So, not only are you going to learn how to prevent wrinkles, you are also going to learn how to protect your overall health.

All of the molecules in the human body perform necessary functions, but some of them can become damaging, if their “function” gets out of control. There are many of these molecules, but they are commonly lumped into a large group called free radicals.

If their activity is not controlled, free radicals can damage DNA strands, thought to be the cause of many forms of cancer. Free-radical induced oxidation of other chemicals in the body causes some of the interior symptoms of aging, such as atherosclerosis.

They contribute to alcohol-induced liver damage; promote the development of emphysema from cigarette smoking. They are involved in Parkinson’s disease, deafness, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s. Think of any disease and they are at least partially responsible.

Because they are necessary for life, the body has a number of mechanisms to minimize their damage and repair the damage that does occur. (Here’s where you get to learn to fight wrinkles.) These mechanisms require specific nutrients to function properly.

You probably did not expect to hear that good nutrition would help fight wrinkles. But, poor nutrition is partially responsible for all of our health problems. Combine chronically poor eating habits with the environmental toxins that we are exposed to on a daily basis and it’s surprising that the human lifespan is increasing, rather than decreasing.

So, here’s how to prevent wrinkles. Use a daily and nightly cream that contains the nutrients necessary for the body to repair itself. Those nutrients include protein, enzymes, the vitamins A, C, and E, and polyphenol antioxidants.

You can fight wrinkles with creams that contain beeswax, honey, citrus extracts, kelp, grape seed oil, olive oil and Shea butter. All of those are good sources of polyphenol antioxidants. Coenzyme Q10 is also important.

But, a new compound that contains a unique protein peptide complex may be the most effective antioxidant, of all.

When I first started learning how to prevent wrinkles, it seemed impossible. Our bodies produce millions of free radicals every day and millions of molecules of antioxidants are required to stop them.

It’s impossible to get that many antioxidants in one day or apply that many directly to your face.

But, this new compound and its unique protein peptides can control millions of free radicals with a single molecule. It’s been proven in clinical studies to fight wrinkles. It will soon be available in dietary supplements, as well.

You can find out more about this compound by going to my website.

So, that’s your primer on how to prevent wrinkles. It’s by no means complete, because I didn’t even mention the sun, but it’s a good start, anyway.
