to death? I mean, they’re obviously just being possessed by the devil. We need to save them from evil!!!
I’m just trying to make the point that this was the mentality of the dark ages. Religion does this. When someone is sick, its obviously demonic possession.

How to Prevent Insomnia-Facts You Should Know About Physiologic Causes Part 2

October 28, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

parkinsons prevent
Alvin Dionaldo asked:

This is the second part of my article on how to prevent the physiologic causes of insomnia thereby preventing insomnia itself.

1. GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)

GERD is a condition in which stomach contents reflux back into the esophagus which could cause heartburn and regurgitation. This is quite uncomfortable and can wake the individual from sleep.

Solution:

Elevate upper body during sleep Since reflux is worse following meals, try not to eat a lot right before sleeping Avoid peppermint, alcohol, chocolate, fatty foods, and smoking since they reduce the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter thereby promoting reflux

2. Heart disease

There are many kinds of heart diseases most of which can cause insomnia.

Solution:

If you think that your heart disease is the primary contributor to your insomnia, try to speak with your physician on how to manage it. There have also been reports about the effectiveness of acupuncture and other Chinese medicines associated with insomnia caused by heart diseases.

3. Hormonal changes

Decreased in levels of growth hormone, and estrogen and progesterone as well as an increase in the level of the stress hormone cortisol can cause insomnia.

Solutions:

Hormonal replacement therapy may do the job. As for cortisol, try to teach yourself in properly managing stressful situations since cortisol levels rise during these conditions.

4. Pain

I think it’s pretty obvious how pain can cause insomnia; and since pain is brought about by a lot of different factors, its treatment also varies with the type of pain you have. Simply manage your pain issues properly and you can prevent insomnia. There are those which are hard to manage though such as pain caused by surgery.

5. Parkinson’s disease

The insomnia caused by Parkinson’s disease is due to the symptoms of the disease itself such as tremors during the night and the side effects of the medications used to treat Parkinson’s disease.

Solution:

Since less than half of those with Parkinson’s disease complain about insomnia, there’s really not much any preventive measures for insomnia specifically caused by Parkinson’s disease. If it causes too much problem on your sleep, you can use sleeping pills or sleeping aids as a last resort.

Sleep is crucial. Insomnia is a gross feeder. It will nourish itself on any kind of thinking; including thinking about not thinking. Get rid of your insomnia now and have control over your sleep.

Teeth Bleaching

October 24, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

Debbie Parkinson asked:

There are many cosmetic dental options available to most of us today, but as we mentioned in one of our earlier articles, for most folks, cosmetic means teeth whitening. And that’s Ok.  With that said let’s start with teeth bleaching.

Teeth bleaching begins with the application of a gel or a rubber shield to your gums. This first step is necessary in order to keep from harming the soft tissue in your mouth.  After this first step,  the bleaching stuff is applied while sometimes aided by a laser to heighten the results.  You did know that this bleaching process was taking place in your dentist’s office, right? The laser was the give away!

However, after discussion with your dentist (of course) you will find that there are home bleaching kits available as well.  The bleaching agent used is most likely carbamide peroxide solution and as we mentioned above is provided as a gel that is placed in a mouthguard type thing.  The intensity and teeth whiteness you are looking for will determine your length of treatment.  And of course, this should all be discussed with your _______?  Dentist … right!

Teeth Whitening Strips

These teeth whitening strips have got to be the coolest things in the world. Not only are teeth whitening strips the most advanced and convenient products to ever overtake modern dentistry (well), they have also propelled the concept of teeth bleaching to new heights. These teeth whitening strips contain hydrogen peroxide. They are  transparent strips and fit over your teeth virtually undetectable as they go to work activated by your mouth’s moisture.

There are several brands out there that are all competing for your money but they are all pretty much identical.  They are applied for 30 minutes, 2 times a day for a total of 21 days. Some can be worn overnight while you sleep.

Your teeth wil eventually and gradually begin to stain again depending on your lifestyle and diet.  If you consume red wine, colored juices, tea, and soft drinks you can be sure of it.  However, with a bit of forthought and preventative dental care your teeth will remain healthy and pearly white for years to come.

IT Exam Results - Boost for the Industry

October 22, 2009 By: admin Category: parkinsons Comments Off

Karl Parkinson asked:

There is a skills shortage in many sectors of UK business, right across the board and yet there are certain industries that are experiencing a boom in the form of sustained and significant expansion, even in the face of the current economic difficulties. Industries such as plumbing, construction, oil and gas, midwifery, finance, teaching, nursing, public relations, customer services and IT are all continuing to grow. Many of these are facing difficult times, as the supply of qualified workers has fallen over the last ten years.

The UK’s IT industry is growing at around eight times the national growth average and needs around 150,000 new entrants every year to meet the current levels of demand. The industry itself employs around 1.1 million skilled professionals, most of whom have IT skills that were learned at schools, college and university. However, as the current technologies advance, new IT training is required. This has seen many companies invest substantial amounts in training programmes to prevent any delay in the generation of new products and services.

As the wages in the IT industry continue to rise, more and more youngsters are considering IT careers as a worthwhile option. In conjunction with this, the number of those passing IT qualification exams at GCSE level has increased by 25% and pass-rates going up by around a third. The rising popularity of this subject and its potential for employment saw it rise from just a few thousand entries in 1997 to over 100,000 in just 4 years. With a starting wage for a new recruit at around £30,000 per year, the IT industry appears to offer jobs that are safe and well paid.

Universities have also stepped up to the mark where IT training and IT-based computer courses are concerned, recognizing the vocational relevance of such qualifications - many of which are recognized internationally. There is awareness in the education system for a new generation of pioneers within this industry and these courses seek to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to rise to the challenges set by the industrial, commercial and public worlds of tomorrow.

The Government, too, has recognized the benefit that the booming interest in IT qualifications is, in turn, having on the UK’s economy. With the IT industry contributing around £570,000 million to the country’s Gross National Average, it is little wonder that they are plowing investment into this area and are even using opportunities offered by landmark events, such as the 2012 Olympics, to act as a showcase for the new generation of IT professionals.

Those who have not had the benefit of qualifications from school or college need not fret; there are a rising number of institutions offering IT training across the country - in all aspects of the industry. Online computer courses and IT qualifications are rising in popularity as people realize just how their skills can contribute to an industry that shapes our lives on a daily basis. In return, well-qualified individuals can expect challenging and dynamic careers in the world of Information Technology.
